A young girl growing up in Spain during World War II escapes into a strange fantasy world.
A stunning movie from Guillermo Del Toro that combines stunning fantasy with harsh reality. The story, acting and special effects are all superb, and there's some good scares. It's wonderfully directed, yet while the fantasy world is beautifully realised, it's a shame that it takes a backseat to real world events.
