Innocents, The

The Innocents (1961)

A governess for two children is convinced that the house they are living in is haunted.
Subtle chiller with a strong lead performance from Deborah Kerr. The story builds slowly, with the film taking its time to set up the character's relationships. There's not many scares here, but the growing sense of panic displayed by Kerr and the children's strange behaviour creates an unsettling atmosphere.
