In 1949 a young Father Merrin discovers that an evil force has been set free due to the excavation of an ancient church.
Weak attempt at a prequel to 'The Exorcist' that had a troubled production, and it shows. The story starts decently enough and it has an interesting setting. Unfortunately the film is a mess of ideas, with whole scenes feeling totally out of place. A botched effort.
